The Old Hill Inn
CHAPEL-LE-DALE,
Ingleton,
LA6 3AR
Originally built as a farm, part of this inn dates back to 1615 and once served passing drovers. You'll find beautiful views of the Dales and many walks on the doorstep, and some of Yorkshire's most famous ales behind the bar. The inn is run by a family of four chefs, one of whom is renowned for his spectacular sugar sculptures (some of which are on display). Lunchtime snacks embrace sandwiches, hot or cold ham and home-made sausages. Larger plates may include beef casserole; mushroom stuffed with ratatouille and chickpeas; and penne all'arrabbiata (pasta in a spicy tomato sauce).

Sorry to say this was definitely my worst eating experience to date. The extremely expensive food was marginally edible but we had to request that the large, rather old and smelly dog be kept out of the equally smelly dining room while we ate. This has to be the first pub I will vow never to visit again.
