Located near Chesil Beach, just inland from the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, this 300-year-old coaching inn is full of marine memorabilia - fishing tools and seafood shells adorn the walls. The Anchor has a great reputation for superb seafood dishes; local fishermen provide the freshest lobsters, crabs and hand-dived scallops to the door. A shellfish combo dish is the perfect way to enjoy the excellent produce. Try perhaps the Anchor's own French-inspired bouillabaisse; steamed halibut fillet with smoked oysters and a light shrimp sauce, or look to the specials board for the catch of the day. The main menu offers not only an extensive selection of fish choices, but also dishes like Cajun blackened fillet steak. Lunchtime lighter dishes include hot baked baguettes and omelettes. The well-stocked bar offers a wide range of draught beers including Otter Bitter, Tribute and John Smith's Smooth as well as Westons Scrumpy.
