Hedsor Road, BOURNE END, SL8 5EE
This 16th-century pub is the hub of the village life and a warm welcome is assured from owner Amanda Baker and her friendly border terrier, Elvis. Four local real ales including Marlow-brewed Rebellion are on offer at the bar, which also dispenses Cornish Orchard cider and up to 15 wines by the glass. The globally-influenced menu might kick off with gin- and coriander-cured salmon with horseradish and lemon before moving on to soy braised pork neck with chilli caramel crackling. Finish, perhaps, with steamed banana and cardamom pudding and chocolate sorbet.
