This 16th-century coaching inn offers well-equipped, comfortable bedrooms, including suites, either of a more traditional style in the main building or modern rooms in the annexe. Service is friendly and attentive. Good food is served in the attractive restaurant, in the cosy bar and the lounge, where a log fire burns in cooler months. A comprehensive wine list focuses on many fine vintages. A private dining room is also available.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, the room was spotless and beautifully appointed, the bathroom was gorgeous and the food was wonderful. Just one possible snag - we stayed in a 'contemporary' room which we found rather noisy as we could hear a television in the next room, people speaking and even the phone when it rang at 7.30 in the morning. So...if you are a light sleeper just ask for a room in the main building.
