West Essex Golf Club
Bury Road,
Sewardstonebury,
Chingford,
LONDON,
E4 7QL
Testing parkland course within Epping Forest with spectacular views of London, Essex and Middlesex, only ten miles from central London. Designed by James Braid in 1900 and designed to make full use of the landscape's natural attributes. The front nine is the shorter of the two and provides a test of accuracy with tree-lined fairways that meander through the undulating countryside. The back nine is equally challenging although slightly longer and requiring more long iron play.

This course is a surprise. It's 10 minutes from the M25 but all you can hear is the birds. The views over the city are stunning and you can see from the QE2 bridge round to the Wembley arch. The front 9 is well contoured and tight with interesting holes and the greens are excellent. Bunkers are a weakness but do not spoil the enjoyment. The back 9 is nearly parkland and again offers interest at each hole, especially the par 5 18th. Good beer and made to feel welcome so give it a try.
