About Personal Loans


How much can I borrow?

Any amount between £7,000 and £25,000 and repayments can be made over any period between two and seven years.

For loans from £1,000 to £6,999 we offer an AA Small Loan.

What are the interest rates?

That depends on the amount you borrow and if you are an AA member, see below:

AA Member Loan
Loan amount £7,000 to £25,000; APR 7.3%; term 2 to 7 years.
Typical rate of 7.3% APR.

AA Member Loan typical example: For a loan of £8,000 repayable by direct debit over four years, you'd make 48 monthly repayments of £194.27 commencing three months after your loan funds are issued. The total amount payable will be £9,324.96, 7.3% APR. Rates range from 7.3% APR to 14.3% APR.

AA Personal Loan for customers who are not AA members
Loan amount £7,000 to £25,000; APR 7.7%; term 2 to 7 years.
Typical rate of 7.7% APR.

AA Personal Loan typical example: For a loan of £8,000 repayable by direct debit over four years, you'd make 48 monthly repayments of £195.80, commencing three months after your loan funds are issued. The total amount payable will be £9,398.40, 7.7% APR. Rates range from 7.7% APR to 14.7% APR.

AA Small Loan typical example: For a loan of £6,000 repayable by direct debit over four years, you'd make 48 monthly repayments of £148.29 commencing three months after your loan funds are issued. The total amount payable will be £7,117.92, 8.2% APR. Rates range from 8.2% APR to 24.9% APR.

You may be offered a different rate depending on your personal circumstances, our credit assessment procedure and other related factors. Rates apply to Internet applications only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. These rates are available for a limited time only.

How do I qualify for an AA Member Loan?

If you have valid AA breakdown recovery membership you are able to receive the preferential AA members rate. You'll be asked to enter your membership number as you apply so make sure you have your membership card to hand.

What if I'm not an AA member?

You can apply for our competitive AA Personal Loan.

If you're not a member you can apply for a loan at the member exclusive rate and join the UK's number 1 in roadside assistance and recovery. All you need to do is apply for a loan and once it's been approved your AA membership will then be arranged. Please read the details of how to apply.

Is the interest rate fixed or variable?

The rate is fixed at the time of application, giving you the security of knowing your repayments will not change.

Is the loan secured or unsecured?

An AA loan is unsecured. This means that your home or other assets, such as your car, are not required as security for the loan.

Are there any hidden charges?

There are no hidden charges when you take out an AA Loan.

Sometimes unexpected circumstances can affect your ability to meet your repayments. You may want to consider AA Creditcare. Please see details below.

Can I repay my loan early?

Yes, just give us a call on 0845 606 1651 and we'll tell you your settlement figure.

Who can apply?

We welcome applications from anyone who is in permanent employment, is at least 18 and a UK resident (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man).

What proof of income do I need to provide?

Full-time employees do not need to give any proof of income. However, different rules may apply if you are self-employed.

About AA Creditcare


Who can benefit from AA Creditcare?

AA Creditcare is available provided you are aged over 18 at the beginning of your loan. You must also be a UK resident, in employment or self-employed and paying the appropriate class of National Insurance contributions.

What happens if I am made redundant or become unemployed?

Should the unexpected happen and you are made involuntarily redundant or become unemployed, Unemployment cover could continue to make your loan repayments for up 12 months, or until you return to work, whichever is sooner. Payments would start after you had been out of work for 30 consecutive days up to a maximum of £1,500 per month.

What happens if I am suddenly injured or taken ill?

If sudden injury or illness prevented you from working, AA Creditcare Basic could continue to make your loan repayments for up to 12 months, or until you are well enough to return to work, whichever is sooner. Payments would start after you had been off work for just 15 consecutive days up to a maximum of £1,500 per month.

How do I make a claim?
