Theme park round-up

Things to do in Scandinavia

Here's a small Swedish and Danish take on theme parks. And if you're relying on your car to get you there and back, it pays to consider European breakdown cover. Unless of course, you know the Swedish for starter motor…

Liseberg

Sweden's largest theme park hosts an array of rides and attractions from rollercoasters, in the shape of Balder to the more restrained Ferris wheel. But the aptly named Screamin' Swing particularly caught our attention.

Where is it?

This park is in Gothenburg, which is 6 hours from Esbjerg. Watch out for tolls roads that take you from Denmark to Sweden.

Tivoli Gardens

We've got to mention Tivoli. These gardens are said to be one of the parks that spawned Walt's Disneyland. The botanical garden-cum-amusement park hosts a wooden rollercoaster plus the Demon – which loops and does a zero-g roll. New for this year is 'Vertigo'.

Where is it?

Tivoli is in Copenhagen, which is a 3-hour drive from Esbjerg. Watch out for toll roads.
