Supporting a learner driver

If you're taking a learner out for driving practice

Supporting learners

Experience has shown that learners who have a combination of professional instruction and private practice with a friend or family member, will do better during the driving test.

Extra driving practice with a friend or family member can help you learn more quickly. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency recommends that people who are supporting learners undergo driving skills training before taking a learner out for practice.

If you're supporting a learner, we offer a two-hour in-car course to refresh your skills and ensure that you and your learner get the best out of your practice sessions. For more information about our refresher lessons for people helping learners, call us on 0800 316 2724.
