Write a review

Set on a man-made island that is over 900 years old, Kelham Island Museum is the showcase of Sheffield's industrial history from early industrialisation to modern times. With the most powerful working steam engine in Europe, reconstructed workshops, and craftspeople demonstrating traditional 'made in Sheffield' skills - this is a 'living' museum. Learn what it was like to live and work in Sheffield's past, and see how steelmaking forged both the city of today and the world. Kelham Island is now the new home of the world renowned Hawley Tool Collection. 2012 celebrates the Museum's 30th anniversary with celebrations throughout the year.
