A William and Mary merchant's house built about 1686 and set in a walled garden, Fenton House is now owned by the National Trust. It contains outstanding displays of Oriental and European porcelain, 17th-century needlework pictures and Georgian furniture as well as the Benton Fletcher collection of early keyboard instruments. In 2007 a collection of British pictures of the 19th and early 20th centuries was bequeathed to Fenton House by the actor Peter Barkworth.
