Write a review

This half-timbered, 16th-century building was the home of Dame Ellen Terry, a Victorian actress, until her death in 1928. Built when Smallhythe was a thriving shipbuilding yard, the cottage is now a museum of Ellen Terry memorabilia. The cottage grounds include her rose garden, orchard, nuttery and the working Barn Theatre. The anniversary of her death is celebrated every July.
