Write a review

England's largest medieval gateway, built in 1380 and used for many years as the city prison. The turret chamber cells can be visited and there is a panoramic view of the city from the battlements. The main room houses a 100 year-old museum. Access to the 1820 prison extension building has now opened to the public for the first time.
