Birkhill Fireclay Mine

BIRKHILL, EH51 9AQ

Write a review

Tour guides will meet visitors at Birkhill station and lead them down into the Fireclay Mine. Once inside, wearing a protective hard hat, the mysteries of the caves and tunnels start to unfold. 300-million-year-old fossils and mysterious water filled caverns will excite and enthral visitors. Although the 100 plus steps from the station may restrict those with mobility difficulties, it is possible to enjoy the meadowland and ancient woodland of the Avon Gorge.
