Holehird Gardens
Description
The garden is maintained by its members who are all volunteers. It lies on a splendid hillside site with stream gardens and rocky outcrops looking to Windermere and the Langdale Pikes. The garden includes specimen trees and flowering shrubs for all seasons. Among the highlights are autumn heather and shrubs, spring bulbs and alpines. There are also national collections of astilbe, hydrangea and polystichum, as well as fine herbaceous borders, herbs and climbers. The Lakeland Horticultural Society was founded in 1969, and there are a number of LHS events throughout the year.
