One of the best-known examples of moated, half-timbered architecture in England. By 1580 the house was much as it is today, and the long gallery, chapel and the great hall are very impressive. The garden has a knot garden, orchard and herbaceous borders. Wall paintings are also of some significant interest, and the house has featured in many TV documentary series, including How We Built Britain. Please ring for details of special events.
