Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town in west Devon, situated on the River Tavy, from which its name derives. It traces its recorded history back to at least 961 AD when Tavistock Abbey, whose ruins lie in the centre of the town, was founded, and its most famous son is Sir Francis Drake. The Tavistock Inn is situated in the centre of this busy little town, surrounded by shops and restaurants. A very warm welcome awaits the guest upon arrival, and the accommodation offered is stylish, comfortable and very clean. Great value pub food and drink is available all day.
