Longbridge House Bed & Breakfast

78 Cowl Street, SHEPTON MALLET, BA4 5EP

AA Logo 4 star rating
Bed and Breakfast

There is plenty of history attached to this building. The Duke of Monmouth is reputed to have stayed here after the Battle of Sedgemoor in 1685; during the 19th century, the house was the childhood home of one John Lewis, founder of the eponymous department store; and more recently the house has belonged to the Bishop of London, who gave the sermon at the wedding of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge. Breakfast is freshly cooked on the Aga, and is served either at one large table in the comfortable kitchen or in the adjacent conservatory.
