I can only speak for the restaurant since we didn't stop. The food was excellent - but be prepared to wait. Local produce beautifully cooked, friendly and welcoming staff. The best welcome we've ever had anywhere as soon as we walked through the door. At the time there was a visiting tour party from the USA, whose members were as delighted in the food and service as we were.

This was a real find and exceeded all expectations. Full of character, with recently refubished rooms and bathrooms - superb. Lively pub and a very pleasant dining room with superb food and reasonable wine list. I cannot commend this place too highly. An added bonus is that Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely town in a lovely part of the country, and very close to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Leighton Moss nature reserve. Bliss! Even a book town nearby in Sedbergh if the weather fails.
