Located in a quiet rural area and just a couple of miles from Bridgwater, this popular hostelry has a broad appeal. There's plenty of character here with log fires, low beams and a warm and genuine welcome. The well-stocked bar has a range of Butcombe Ales as well as guest beers, while the menu offers plenty of choice in addition to the impressive carvery. The bedrooms are located in the converted skittle alley, and provide good levels of space and comfort. Spacious gardens and patios make the perfect venues for a refreshing drink in the summer.

We stayed at the Malt Shovel for a weekend with our dog. We were all made extremely welcome, the food was great and the service and hospitality was excellent. Would recommend to anyone, and will definitely stay again next time we're in the area.
