The passenger compartment remained stable in the front impact test, the windscreen pillar being displaced rearwards by only 10mm after the test. The car scored maximum points for its protection of the passenger. Dummy readings indicated that the car provided good protection of the knees and femurs of both driver and passenger. Renault showed that similar protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. The Megane scored maximum points in the side impact and pole tests. In the pedestrian impact tests the front edge of the bonnet scored no points for the protection provided to pedestrians' legs. The head of a struck adult or child would be offered predominantly poor protection by the bonnet.
